Spurrier heads to Oaklands Academy

17 Aug 2021 by Phil Hughes

With the new season fast approaching it’s time to say goodbye and good luck to one of our long term players as they move on to the next stage of their basketball journey.

Jacob Spurrier, who has been with the club since the age of 8, will be stepping out of Plymouth for the next step and joining Oaklands Basketball Academy in St Albans. After attending a rigorous trial and selection process, Jacob has been invited to join the academy’s EABL squad and will be mixing it up with some of the countries top talent. The Elite Academy Basketball League (EABL) is the premier junior basketball competition in the UK and features England Development Programme (EDP) institutions – the top U19 programmes in the country. It’s not just about the basketball though as Jacob will also continue his academic studies alongside training and playing.

As well as securing his place in the Academy, Jacob has also been invited to train with Oaklands NBL1 mens squad and will be hoping, over time, to make his way into the team for competitive NBL1 basketball.

From all of us here at Plymouth Raiders Development, we wish the best of luck to Jacob and will be keeping an eye on his progression from afar!
